GroundLevel Insights uses a sensor and existing camera systems to apply machine learning algorithms. Founder and CEO Asif Khan says it can measure capacity in a store whether people are physical distancing and face mask compliance and can notify staff with a screenshot when there’s a violation. “And then you’re going right to the consumer or the customer that’s in the building and having a conversation with them or maybe offering them a mask if they didn’t bring one.”
As for privacy concerns, Khan says images stay at local businesses and are not being processed off site. “It’s all anonymous for analyzing a face to see if there’s a mask on it or not.
