City of Pickering has featured GroundLevel Insights in the #SupportLocal series:
“This #Pickering business is doing their part to help keep us safe during #COVID19. They use proprietary AI technology and mobile location data to understand the movement of consumers in the physical world and combine that with sensors to measure social distancing, capacity restriction monitoring and face mask compliance.”
STREETFIGHTMAG: GLI IS ENSURING SHOPPERS ARE SOCIAL DISTANCING
GroundLevel Insights is blending mobile location data with AI for Covid compliance. The company has developed a thermal sensing, battery-operated people counter that businesses can place at their entrances to limit the number of customers who come inside their stores. They also use machine learning algorithms on CCTV footage to measure real-time social distancing. This gives retail associates the opportunity to find out when bottlenecks and crowding are occurring.
GroundLevel Insights uses a sensor and existing camera systems to apply machine learning algorithms. Founder and CEO Asif Khan says it can measure capacity in a store whether people are physical distancing and face mask compliance and can notify staff with a screenshot when there’s a violation. “And then you’re going right to the consumer or the customer that’s in the building and having a conversation with them or maybe offering them a mask if they didn’t bring one.”
Today on CBC News: “As masks become mandatory indoors in Toronto to fight the spread of COVID-19, and other parts of the GTA look to follow suit, some businesses are turning to artificial intelligence to make sure customers are following the rules.
